House of Cards Campaign

In the summer of 2016, just after the second round of general elections, the Spanish political landscape could not be more bleak, 4 political parties, with 4 different and incompatible programs that failed to agree to form a government. Taking advantage of the situation and the local satire of the Iberian Peninsula, the agency Andtonic, where I was working at the time, decided to use the controversy as a communication tool and created a very unique electoral campaign for their client Sony. Under the slogan "Your vote does not decide anything", a series of posters were created. The posters mimic the iconography and aesthetics of each of the 4 main concurrent parties to elections, presenting in all of them the same candidate: Frank Underwood, main character of "House of Cards", the famous Netflix production. We made the design of 4 posters with the corresponding photo retouching as well as the landing page where the information of the campaign is collected. All wrapped in an air of virality thanks to a hashtag and provided by a countdown that is maintained for 48 hours on the landing page and does not reveal more details until end of that period.

The campaign ends up being an absolute success in social networks with more than 250K impressions on Twitter and +500 Retweets just 2 days later, as well as reaching mainstream Spanish newspapers and echo even on national television like ABC, Atresmedia, El Mundo, El Periódico, among others). The posters were hung all over the city center of Madrid, none remained after less than half a week because people collected them. The main purpose of the campaign was to create publicity for the brand Sony and the release of season 4 of "House of Cards" in Dvd and Blu-Ray format.
