Portraits in Color

To be honest, I have never been a person of color, anyone who knows me in person knows this well. I don't feel very identified working in this area, a colorful photograph don't convey to me like a black and white one, color just transmits to me feelings that I mostly don't look for. Color portrait photography, while undoubtedly vibrant and captivating, often lacks the enigmatic allure of its black and white counterpart. The introduction of color can be both revealing and distracting, as it accentuates the subject's surroundings and attire, potentially overshadowing the subtle nuances of their expression. In contrast, black and white portraiture possesses a unique ability to heighten the sense of mystery by eliminating the distraction of color. The stark interplay of light and shadow, the timeless quality, and the focus on the subject's features draw viewers into a more profound contemplation of the individual's essence. In the monochromatic world, it is the raw emotions, the unspoken stories, and the subtle intricacies of the human spirit that take center stage, inviting us to explore the depths of the portrayed souls with an air of intrigue and wonder. Still, I occasionally work in color, especially if the job requires it. But, of course, if someone told me "I want a job done in your style", it would for sure be monochrome.
