Ghent / Belgium
What can I say about Ghent besides that I love it? I love the city, its architecture, its music, its creativity. I have come to town on a rainy and very gray day, on one of those days where the light is the one I love the most, totally muted and melancholic. When landing on it, one is impressed to contemplate the wonderful St Nicholas' Church. It is impossible not to notice the City pavilion, a large stand-alone canopy in the inner city of Ghent, an architectural masterpiece. A huge open building in the shadow of the Belfry. Also worth seeing is the St Bavo’s Cathedral. Take a walk and have a nice coffee along the Graslei, a quay in the historic city center, located on the right bank of the Leie river. Surround the mysterious medieval castle Gravensteen. Enjoy one of the best views in the city from St Michael's Bridge, where you'll get a 360-degree perspective of the town's main attractions.
